WHY SHOULD YOU DONATE?
Spirit of 67 Foundation grants have a positive and lasting impact on Every Student in Every School, Every Day. Over the past thirty years in an effort to be true to our mission the Spirit of 67 Foundation has funded grants worth over $4.3 million benefitting our District 67 schools. Every year our students, teachers and parents come up with incredible ideas that have the potential to enhance learning in our schools. Your donations help us continue to bring those ideas to life. Every donation at every level is valued and appreciated. Donations from families like yours are critical so that we can continue to fund amazing grants for our schools. Donations can be made anytime but one of the easiest ways to donate is during REGISTRATION each year. Visit our Donor Page to learn more about donor benefits.

SMARTBOARDS FOR K-4 MUSIC CLASSROOMS 2016-17
“The SMARTBoard has been invaluable tool and has revolutionized the way we experience Music at Cherokee, Everett and Sheridan," is the feedback from our music teachers. This grant provided SMARTBoards for music classrooms in all of our elementary schools. In requesting this grant the music teachers shared that this tool would allow them to use their limited time with students more efficiently and more effectively. It allows them to have visuals and interactive activities set and ready for each class with a few clicks and students’ progress or input during the lesson can easily be saved and retrieved for their next class. They report, “Our students have had great success working with manipulatives on the SMARTBoard. They are also able to make connections and mark them, just like pencil and paper, but now have the ability to save in between Music classes in order to jump right back into their work.” This teaching tool gives both visual and hands-on learners opportunities to grasp and engage with the musical concepts being explored. One student put it like this, “I like how it actually helps students that don’t understand notes and rhythms.” This technology has increased student engagement and participation in music classes across the district. The teachers shared, “The students’ motivation during instruction has improved to where students who would not offer anything during instruction are now volunteering to create musical thoughts using the SMARTBoard.”
PORTABLE AUDIO SYSTEM IMPROVEMENT PROJECT 2016-17
The Spirit was pleased to fund a grant this year that provided DPM with a high-quality portable sound system that can be easily transported throughout the building, district and community. This technology allows for presentations and performances to be held in the cafeteria, gym or any outdoor space. In particular, this system is greatly benefiting the popular Pop Acapella choir by allowing each student to sing with a wireless microphone. They recently performed in each elementary cafeteria during lunch to encourage upcoming 5th graders to participate in the music programs at DPM and at the Opening Doors for Education Home Tour.

NEW DOROTHY CHANTLER FUND GRANTS
In honor of our founding president, Dorothy Chantler, a fund has been created as a means to address time sensitive and important opportunities that arise outside of the annual grant cycle. Anyone may apply for a grant from this fund, but the requests must be under $1,500 and must be time sensitive. All other grant requests should be submitted through the regular process. Each request must be reviewed and supported by the building principal and will then be evaluated by the Grants Committee to ensure alignment with the Spirit of 67 Foundation mission.
Over the last 30 years the Spirit of 67 Foundation has awarded over $4 million in grants to our schools. These grants enhance your children’s education throughout their years in District 67. From curricular enhancements in language arts, science, math and social studies to new tools in technology, wellness, emotional wellness and world language, your contributions have a positive and lasting impact on Every Student in Every School, Every Day!
Rather than asking parents to participate in a variety of hands-on fundraising activities like candy sales, bake sales, wrapping paper or merchandise sales we simply ask that every District 67 family make a donation each year. We appreciate each and every family donation. There is a giving level for every family. Visit our Donors, Partners & Sponsors page to learn more.
We are always in need of people to serve on our event committees as well as dedicated volunteers to join our board of directors. If you are interested in learning more please check out our Get Involved page. There you will find job descriptions for all of our board positions as well as an online volunteer form. Feel free to reach out to Connie Hollingsworth, Nominating Committee Chair to express an interest or ask questions.
Grants in Action 2015-16 Highlights
It shall be the mission of the Spirit of 67 Foundation to raise funds and acquire resources to provide enriching educational and cultural experiences for the students, parents, faculty and staff of Lake Forest School District 67 that might not otherwise be provided.
Every Student in Every School, Every Day!
The Spirit of 67 Foundation has been partnering with our schools and having a positive and lasting impact on the educational experiences of our children since 1985. Over three decades the Spirit has awarded over $4 million in grants to provide resources and enriching educational and cultural experiences that touch every student in every school, every day.
The support of our families and community is critical to achieving our mission. We value EVERY donation we receive from district families because regardless of the amount it is an expression of support. Today approximately half of the Spirit’s revenues come from annual donations thanks to the generosity of our families.
